Melbourne Avian Rescue Sanctuary wants to thank all who participated in making this sale a success. Those of you who helped are the backbone of any rescue organization. For those of you who came out and spent some money, we hope you enjoyed the sale.
Funding for exotic bird rescue is virtually non existent, so these sales are needed to keep funds available for feeding, operation, and numerous other necessities and expenses associated with a rescue.
Please continue to support our cause. Donate online, attend our future sales, become a member, or become a volunteer. Thank-you to all.
Oh, and as all our batteries need recharging just as the cameras does, pictures will be posted on our Facebook page, Florida Parrot Rescue M.A.R.S. later today. Please make sure to take a look.

We adopted “Whiskey” in August 2011. He had a reputation as a biter but we discovered that he was mostly bluffing and none of the family has been bitten. He doesn’t like to be touched until he decides that he’s ready. He will come to you and put his head down and then you can pet him all you want. He stays outside of his cage 99% of the time, playing on his big play stand and running around his cage, which has more perches on the outside than it has on the inside. He loves a variety of toys to rip to shreds. He’s also learning to toss a wiffle ball to me from the top of his cage and if I catch it and put it back too quickly, he simply tosses it off the other side of his cage
Adopting “Whiskey” was one of the best decisions we’ve made.
He’s a treasured member of our family and usually the center of attention. He sings and does tricks and loves the applause we give him. His latest trick which he does while sitting on my lap, is to take a paper napkin, rip off a little bit and make a spit ball which he tucks under his wing and pops it out, usually at me. Then, like every good magician, he looks around innocently as if to say, “where did it go?” His record for spitballs is close to 100 at one setting Thanks to MARS for saving this great little bird for us.
It’s a wonderful work that you do.
