Saturday at M.A.R.S. was a mix of good, bad, and just plain ouch!
Oh it started out ok, with the promise of a beautiful day for visitors and for the exotic birds who reside at our parrot rescue.
The preliminary property clean up, the setting out of outside water dishes and preperation of treats for the Macaws, Cockatoos.,Amazons and assorted other species who we have in our care here at M.A.R.S. all went well. Then……
First, I got bit really bad by Bryan a Cockatoo who was boarding with us. He was adopted from M.A.R.S.  by a family he really loves, he simply missed them and really wanted to go home.
Second Keiffer and Dusty both Toos, have decided they can no longer live in harmony together. Keiffer promptly went after Dusty and yes took a small chunk of Dustys’ Â toe. More on this at the end of the story.
Third, a small Senegal whose name turns out to be Snuggles,(he or she is not so snuggley), decided to fly out an open window (clipped secondary feathers) and we searched for a while till we got to busy to do so any more.
To recap all this. I easily bandaged my wound, no big deal. Had a very difficult time getting Dusty to stop bleeding but had great help with assisting nurses Jane and Dominique. Hey thanks guys his toe is fine this morning. Gave him an extra dose of love last night, always good medicine. I promised him Keiffer would be kept under closer watch too. As for the Senegal Snuggles, he flew back here while we had lots of visitors but would not come down from the bamboo till this morning, at you guessed it, sunrise.
So thank you St. Francis for seeing him through the night. And all of us here at M.A.R.S. wish all of you a very Happy Easter.
