What a way to start the 2022 New Year. Very happy to share that we were fortunate once again to receive a grant from the Bristol-Hansen community based charitable trust. Melbourne Avian Rescue Sanctuary is extremely grateful. This grant means so much to our non profit. To be recognized for the work we do is immeasurable.
MARS specializes in working with exotic avians. Helping so many people with their parrots and the numerous varieties of issues that arise. We help when ever and where ever we can. Established in 2008, our organizations reach is ever growing. Rehabilitation, and adoption our ultimate goals.
Established in the memory of Grace Bristol, and Gladys Hansen, both school teachers, then eventually living in Melbourne Village. These two women of vision, anticipating the future financial needs, within the community they loved, established a true testament to their legacy by creating this charitable foundation. To this day it continues on, helping so many non profit organizations within Brevard County Florida.
As a recipient, we wish to express a heartfelt thank you to Grace and Gladys, and the trustees of this grant program.

M.A.R.S. is refreshing our curb side look, and our Facebook header.
Some times it’s the little things that can really grab your attention. At times you wonder if it could be a new sign or a new paint job or the fact that it just looks like someone cares. To keep things that are older looking shiny and new, IS BY NO MEANS AN EASY TASK!!!! That is especially true when living and working in a beachside enviorment. The “Colonial’ is the building that houses Melbourne Avian Rescue Sanctuary. Built in 1925, and thankfully for us built as they say to last.Â
Someone noticed that the sign in  our Facebook header said CLOSED, and although I never thought it mattered much at the time, I realized to be warm and inviting to the public and to all our Facebook followers, (facebook.com/marsparrots) we should change that. Of course when doing that I thought why not add some more color to the front in a very inexpensive way, marked down cushions and some bright paint can easily help to acheive a fresh and inviting look. So with most of this done, we now can move on to adding all the fall decorations that make this season of the year so much fun.Â
WELCOME AUTUMN, and welcome to all of you who visit our exotic bird rescue located here in Melbourne Beach Florida. Our beautiful little seaside town. Yes I know officially I am a few days early, but it beats being a few days late!!!! Â

M.A.R.S. has a new look, Green and Clean
Finally, the project of putting a new face and lots of paint on the M.A.R.S. building is nearing an end. We are happy to say we have closed up all the holes and are as hurricane ready as we can be. Despite an extremely hot July and August, and days of wet weather, all involved in the project were amazing to work with. The results, as you see below, just beautiful. Please know that the feathered members of Melbourne Avian Rescue Sanctuary will be safe and sound
Our next project, as there is always something else needing tended to, is the roof over the bird room itself. Let’s all hope it goes equally as smooth.
Please if you can, consider a donation to our cause by visiting marsparrots.org and hit the donate button.
Just a quick note for fun. Keep an eye out for our article on this renovation to appear in Florida Today News Paper. Possible publication dates are the 12th or the 19th of September.
Happy Fall to all from the entire crew here at M.A.R.S.
